On May 1st, 1941, Altec Service Co. bought Lansing Manufacturing Co., and thus Altec Lansing Corporation was formed. Two years later, the first duplex 12" loudspeaker was introduced and in 1944, the much acclaimed 604 duplex 15" loudspeaker was released.

Around 60 years later, Altec Lansing Professional Audio products are still considered by many to be the finest in the world.

a rich orchestral and theatre sound to thousands at New Farm Park.

Designed using horn loading principles, the uniquely designed Altec Arena speaker system allows maximum performance from the housed drivers and provides higher efficiency, lower distortion and higher directivity than standard bass reflex enclosures. What does this mean? The musical quality of these speakers is very smooth with clarity even at high levels. A sensitivity of 108dB (SPL, 1W/1m) is obtained from a single enclosure such as on the right. This efficiency is almost unheard of in bass reflex enclosures. CPC Built Trapezoidal 604 Loudspeaker Enclosure	Mid/High Horn Loaded Cabinet Altec 1005 Horns and Altec 290 Mid-Frequency and 288 High Frequency drivers mounted in the same cabinet.
3184 - Sub Bass Enclosure This enclosure features two 18" Altec Lansing 3184 drivers in a 680 litre subwoofer enclosure. The sheer power and efficiently of these drivers provides large amounts of sub-bass with minimalist distortion.
